Puppets and Masks

We take commissions to make puppets and masks. Clients have include the Spectrum Theatre for a show for the Millenium Dome in 2000, and Erth from Perth W.A. for Dinosaur Zoo in 2013/4.
Nutmeg was commissioned by the Social Inclusion Department of Suffolk County Council and writer/director Gill Brigg in 2006, to make a set of puppets for the touring show “The Glass Boy”, a play about how to cope with ethnic difference, for middle schools.

The puppets were designed and made by Meg Amsden, out of non-cross linked polyethylene foam, a variety of fabrics, leather, inner tube, thin rope, commercial wigs, and swimming noodles. The costumes were made by Julie Carpenter by adapting real children’s clothes.
