Nutmeg Puppet Co was founded in 1979 to produce and tour original and entertaining shows and workshops for all ages and abilities. We have established a reputation for making shows inspired by environmental issues, history and legends, and for producing well-researched teaching materials.
We work together as a team with composers, artists, writers, directors and video artists, and welcome young people on placements and as interns or junior assistants. We are now developing puppet films, and puppet shows that include film.

We are happy to perform and run workshops in all kinds of venues, including small theatres, schools, home-education groups, community centres, residential homes, museums, and libraries, and  enjoy working in the open air at events, festivals and on natural sites.
Our making skills and attention to detail are legendary and we take commissions to make puppets and masks, and displays for conservation centres.
We lecture on our work at conferences and symposia, and run training sessions for environmental organisations.
Our long association with the Broads Authority, from 1985 – 2006 , was a unique relationship between a puppet company and a National Park. We worked closely with staff,  producing and touring  shows and workshops about the ecology and social history of the Norfolk & Suffolk Broads. This led to a four-year environmental project in the Danube Delta Romania, ‘Eco Puppets in the Delta’ .
