It’s 1827 in the Broads…Wherryman Jack and his daughter Jenny sail the wherry”Mermaid” to Mutford Bridge, arriving as work on the Lowestoft to Norwich Navigation begins. As canals are cut and locks built, Jack is caught up in a smugglers’ plot and imprisoned. Jenny is left to outwit the Revenue Man and prove her dad’s innocence, with the help of some friendly eels and Mr Cuthbert the engineer.
